Four years passed and I knew it was time to start the hunt for the perfect ring. After talking to all of my buddies, which most knew nothing about jewelry, one recommended Uptown Diamond. I made the appointment and immediately felt at home walking in. Rick educated me and helped me pick it out and asked me how I was going to pop the question. I just figured I would do the regular dinner proposal but knowing I was a Houston Firefighter, he suggested to do it at the station. So I took his advice and started planning. As soon as I put the bug in the ears of the rest of the crew they took off with it. We came up with setting up the ladder truck and inviting her to a “family day.” The whole district came over and we had fire trucks everywhere waiting for the big moment. Naturally my fiancé wondered where all the families were and I just told her she was early and she bought it! The men lined the roof and I convinced her to follow me across the ladder where I would surprise her with the ring I’ve been hiding for months. We had our song start playing, the American flag in the background and perfect weather. As soon as she saw me on one knee I could see tears of joy and I knew I had done well. It couldn’t have worked out any better. Thanks Rick for all your help, she loves what I got her. Cheers.
