I devised a clever ruse about helping my family out on their farm. She loves the farm, and was happy to spend the weekend there. On Sunday morning, while she helped prepare brunch, I put my perfect proposal plan into action! My mother and aunt set up a blanket, flowers, wine and a handmade “Will You Marry Me” sign under a shady, inviting oak tree. I suggested to my fiancée that we check on the new calves. She adores them, so again, it didn’t take much convincing. As we approached the site, and my beautiful bride-to-be took in the scene before her, her face lit up in delight. From there, I popped the question and received an ecstatic “Yes!” in reply.
But the plot was yet to thicken! Although my fiancée thought her parents were out of town, they were actually a key part of the plan that day. As the initial dust settled from the proposal, I told her to look towards the gate for one more surprise. When she realized that her parents, sister and little niece were there, awaiting her glance, she burst into joyful tears. We are all counting down the days until the wedding!
