Easter is always a time for celebration, but one particular Easter Sunday will always be especially memorable for Leif and Amber. Planning to spend the holiday with Leif’s family, the couple drove to the family home in Elgin. When they arrived, Leif suggested that they park behind the house since the egg hiding festivities were underway in the front yard. Little did Amber know that their parking location had more to do with Leif’s pending proposal than it did with staying out of the way! Secretly plotting, the romantic groom had arranged for Amber’s family to be there for the couple’s betrothal.
Shortly after their arrival at the house, Leif asked Amber to help him finish hiding Easter eggs for the multitude of children there. When the task was complete, and the couple began to climb the steps to the house, Leif asked Amber to turn around. He grabbed Amber’s basket, which contained one egg and a note card bearing the words, “And I thought I loved you then…”. Humbly, Leif dropped to one knee before his lovely lady. Fighting back tears, he asked the most important question of both of their lives: “Will you marry me?”
Shocked but overjoyed, Amber quickly accepted his proposal. She then turned around to witness the heartwarming sight of her own family, who had traveled many miles for this magnificent moment. At Leif’s request, Amber’s parents and siblings had come from Houston, Dallas, and San Francisco to be with the couple this special Easter Sunday. It was wonderful for Amber and Leif to have both families there to celebrate their engagement and their Risen Savior. Every Easter, they can commemorate the rebirth of Christ as well as the birth of their marriage story!
