Sky Sudberry has always known how to shine. The lively nine-year old junior golfer, featured in the documentary The Short Game, now sports a new kind of sparkle. Sudberry’s custom ball marker, personally crafted for her by Houston-based Uptown Diamond, is a one-of-a-kind piece designed with 4.4 ctw round diamonds and 18K white gold. Valued at $15,000, it is the world’s most expensive ball marker.
The project was very personal for Uptown Diamond’s Rick Antona. Antona, a friend of the Sudberry family for nearly two decades, has watched Sky grow into one of the world’s top-ranked junior golfers. Always drawn to projects with an edge, Antona wanted to craft a singular piece that would embody Sky’s bubbly personality. “I always like to take on new, fun, and challenging projects that no one else has done,” said Antona. “Envisioning Sky’s enjoyment in wearing the diamond ball marker made this endeavor very special to me.”
While Sky is undeniably athletic, she also embraces her girly side and loves things that sparkle. According to her father Bob Sudberry, Sky clips on the new ball marker at every opportunity. “Sky feels special with it, and loves to see it shine,” said Sudberry. “She plans to wear it to special events to bring her extra luck.”
Sky’s new ball marker will certainly add a touch of glamour to the green, and if her belief holds true, may also bring a stroke of good fortune to this already talented player.
